Exposing the Heel from 50/50
Craig is one of the best no-gi technicians in the world, and he has some of the most effective and devastating heel hooks on the planet. In this brand-new release, see how Craig has evolved his leg lock system over the last few years to stay one step ahead of the competition with brand new attacks, escapes, and counters.
In addition to the most cutting edge ashi garami techniques, Craig puts his game to the test and rolls for forty minutes straight with new people, before going back over the footage and breaking down his techniques and strategies.
Leg locks are a systematic way to break down and tap out anyone, even guys who are bigger, stronger, faster, or more experienced. Attacking the heel and getting the submission is all about who knows more about attacking and defending the position, and you can get the newest and most-updated info on the market here with Craig.
Craig uses a clear, detailed coaching style that has made him a huge favorite among the BJJ Fanatics audience, and you are sure to give your ashi garami system a revamp after these adjustments.
Since his breakthrough performance at the 2017 ADCC, Craig has been known as one of the best leg lockers on the planet and since then he has been busy perfecting his game around attacking the heel hook and finishing the fight.
Learn how to expose the heel and attack the inside heel hook against defensive opponents, and how you can transition your ashi garami into a dynamic back take to double your threats.
Finishing From 50/50
Also update your heel hook defense with the defenses that really work and the back takes that guys like Craig Jones and Felipe Pena have used to huge effect in no-gi grappling.
Craig also breaks down how to win one of the trickiest positions in all of no-gi, the 50/50 guard. Work for your heel exposure and attack the submissions you want without putting yourself in danger, even from this back-and-forth position.
Craig’s leg lock system is bulletproof, with attacks and counters from any position, and he regularly heel hooks world class black belts. Now, you can hop inside the mind of Craig Jones and hear what he is thinking and feeling while he rolls against over half a dozen competitors back-to-back.
We filmed each match and then Craig narrates over it, showing the setups, traps, and attacks he is taking in real time. By learning how he is applying each move together, you can start to build your own game around these same effective combinations.
Leg locks, and especially the heel hook, have changed the way no-gi grapplers fight forever, so having the newest and best technique is so important to staying successful. Take this opportunity to learn from one of the best heel hook artists of all time as he leads you through how anyone can become a leg lock expert.
So What’s On This Series
Since his first leg lock series, the games around exposing the heel and finishing the heel hook from saddle have become so much more complicated, but Craig shows how you can roll and reposition so that leverage, body weight, and position are on your side. You can increase your finishing percentage from the saddle and the 50/50, the two most common positions for Craig’s signature inside heel hook. Without ever putting yourself into danger, find the most effective paths to the submission.
In addition to his heel hook system, Craig has been able to take the back and finish against elite grapplers and world champions like Gabriel Arges and Leandro Lo. Learn how you can combine the saddle with a dynamic rolling back take (that anyone can do) and how Craig has turned his opponent’s heel hook attempts into back takes that frustrate the opposition. Learn how you too can find your way to the back most effectively, relying on simple leg positioning and hip control to open up your entries.
Watch as Craig takes on eight grapplers in a row in live sparring, implementing the same techniques that he just taught so you can see the system in action. We have over 40-minutes of narrated rolls for you to follow along with, so you can see the little details making a big difference while Craig explains what he’s doing. This dynamic way of attacking can slip past if you aren’t careful, but now you can get everything in full from the man himself!
Crab Ride Back Take
- #1 Craig has found himself in the dreaded 50/50 position. Although many hate it, this brings the opportunity for the inside heel hook, the most powerful lower body submission.
- #2 Craig’s opponent is attempting to escape by turning so he can begin to clear his knee line and do a knee slide or running man escape
- #3 Craig is prepared for this escape and he is going to utilize it to create more heel exposure and tighten his grip. Notice his right knee is on the ground making it difficult for his opponent to free the knee and turn more.
About Craig Jones
Craig Jones had arguably the best breakout performance of any grappler in history at the 2017 ADCC in Finland when he quickly submitted many of the top contenders and no one even knew who he was….
Craig Jones Was A purple belt living in the middle of nowhere, Australia – where Koala Bears are as common as squirrels are in the U.S. training on a continent where no one had ever won a medal as a Black Belt at the World Championships. After his coach told him that he wasn’t even allowed to roll with anyone not affiliated with their very small gym, he left and started training in a garage – in Australia – with beginners as a purple belt just 2 years ago.
