Now, most of the boxers and combat sports athletes Phil Daru trains had one thing in common before they met him; they were over-training or didn’t understand the science behind high level ATHLETIC training, ultimately causing them to improperly train on a daily basis…
This lead to a SERIOUS problem in not only the performance of these athletes, seen in their speed, power, agility and endurance but they also began to have health problems due to their inability to recover and eventually dealing chronic injuries that weren’t able to heal.
Overtraining or improper training basically creates a malfunction of the nervous system where you can’t recover, explode or perform at your body’s full ability.
As you can imagine, your reaction speed and timing has to be on point, there isn’t any room for hesitation…When you have punches flying at you, you need to have your nervous system firing optimally, especially if you want to be able to counter your opponents punches with powerful shots.
What You’ll Learn In Heavy Hitter Boxing?
1. PROFESSIONALLY DESIGNED PROGRAM USED BY TOP BOXERS
There’s a misconception out there that certain ‘exercises’ build power. This is NOT the case. Certain exercises build power when and only when they are programmed properly. What this means (in simple terms) is that over the course of months, your exercises and intensity levels change according to what’s been scientifically proven to be the MOST beneficial for a boxer.
2. SPORT-SPECIFIC EXERCISES
In this program you’ll find exercises that closely emulate the movements found in the sport of boxing. Unfortunately, many coaches who aren’t familiar with the fight science will have you do exercises like “dumbbell punches” thinking this is a “fight specific exercise”. In truth, this exercise will damage the structural integrity of the shoulder girdle and should not ever be used. We’ll utilize the fight specific exercises you see on my YouTube Channel, and many many more!
3. COMPOUND EXERCISES
If you ask most athletes how to improve strength in their lower body, you’d probably hear “squats, lunges, deadlifts” as answers. That isn’t wrong, however, certain variations of these exercises come in handy for combat sports. If you follow me on Instagram and YouTube you probably know about zercher squats and their benefits for fighters. Phil has many examples like this to teach you…
4. COVERS ALL YOUR CONDITIONING NEEDS
If you’re familiar with how your body works then you know you have three energy systems that work completely differently. The ‘aerobic’ energy system provides you the ability to go long distances while your anaerobic systems help you sprint or punch hard. Both of these energy systems are VITAL for fight sports and you NEED to condition them individually and PROPERLY!
5. CORE STABILITY AND CORRECTIVE EXERCISES
Each and every human has strengths and weaknesses. Our natural tendencies are to lean towards our strength and away from our weaknesses. Our bodies do this without us even knowing, and often times this is how the worst and most debilitating injuries are formed; through compensation. Phil has a process for assessing an athlete that is second to NONE and will have your body firing on all cylinders.
